PURPOSE:To produce the titled steel by incorporating specific ratios of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Al, Ca, Y and REM into Fe. CONSTITUTION:The steel contg., by weight, <=0.2% C, <=1% Si, <=2% Mn, 15-35% Ni, 12-25% Cr and 4-6% Al, furthermore contg. one of more kinds among Ca, Y and REM in such a manner that the area expressed by the inequality of -50<(S)+(O)-0.8X(Ca)-0.2X(Y)-0.1X(REM)<30 (by ppm) is satisfied and regulated with <=100ppm Mg at need and the balance consisting essentially of Fe is prepd. The austenitic heat resistant steel having excellent oxidizing resistance and corrosion resistance at high temp. and having good hot workability is thereby obtd.
