PURPOSE:To obtain metal fine powder having excellent resistance to oxidation in the air by suspending fine powder of cobalt or the metal having ionization tendency less than the cobalt and the alloy thereof in aliphatic polyalcohol and executing heating treatment. CONSTITUTION:The fine powder of the cobalt or the metal having ionization tendency less than the cobalt except tip, mercury and the alloy thereof is suspended in the aliphatic polyalcohol and the heating treatment is executed. The grain size of the above metal fine powder is desirable to be about 0.1-10 mum and is formed by mechanical pulverization method, etc., and just after pro duction, the above treatment is desirable to execute. As the above aliphatic polyalcohol, ethylene glycol, propylene, polyethylene glycol, etc., are used. The suspending liquid is desirable to be composition of >= about 1 kg metal fine powder to the aliphatic polyalcohol 1 kg. Further, the heating treatment temp. is suitable to be >= about 150 deg.C and less than boiling point of the used aliphatic polyalcohol. After the above treatment, the metal fine powder is separated from the aliphatic polyalcohol.
