PURPOSE:To enable a character matrix corresponding to a desired printing character to be split-printed over two lines by using one kind of memory, by providing a matrix address memory, a matrix address-calculating part and a control signal selector. CONSTITUTION:Where a printing character is constituted of 24 dot rows by 18 dot columns and the first address in a character matrix generator 13A is x, the address in the matrix generator 13A is x+0 when the a first counter 4 reads 12, and the count is made to be zero when dot information at addresses up to x+11 is sequentially sent, upon which a scanning-controlling circuit 12A switches a line buffer selector 3 to start scanning of a second line buffer 2A. Then, dot information in the matrix generator 13A designated by an address x+12 is sequentially sent to a printing part 15, and when dot information at addresses up to x+23 is sent and a final matrix address of 24 is reached or exceeded, zero dot information is continuously sent until the scanning of the buffer 2A is completed. Therefore, a character matrix is split-printed, centered at the boundary between two character lines having scanning numbers of n and m which can be arbitrarily set. |
