PURPOSE:To realize the confirmation of a picture editing flow by displaying a display area on an entire picture corresponding to the magnifying power. CONSTITUTION:A picture reading device 20 reads pictures and stores them in a picture memory 13 and a magnifying power control part 14 sets the magnifying power of an entire picture. The magnified picture data magnified by set magnifying power and the reduced picture data are displayed on a magnified picture display part 51 and a reduced picture display part 54 of a CRT display 21 respectively. A display control means displays an area 55 where the magnified picture corresponds to the entire picture on the entire picture. Thus a picture editing flow is easily confirmed and the pictures are edited with no misoperation and with high efficiency since both entire and magnified pictures are visually recognized.
