Process for producing phosphoric acid and/or phosphates from wet-process phosphoric acid and an extractant therein

A process is developed for producing phosphoric acid and phosphates from wet-process phosphoric acid. The crude acid is extracted with a waterimmiscible solvent mixture consisting of mixed trialkyl phosphine oxide and a diluent, wherein about 2/3 P2O5 in the crude acid is extracted into solvent mixture and the balance remains in the raffinate. Pure phosphoric acid or phosphates are produced by stripping the loaded solvent with appropriate aqueous phase and secondary calcium phosphate fertilizer is obtained by neutralizing the raffinate with calcium carbonate.
