A compound having the structural formula <IMAGE> where R1 and R2 are the same or different and are hydrogen; however, both R1 and R2 cannot be hydrogen if R3 and R4 are both hydrogen or if one of R3 and R4 is hydrogen and the other nitro; in addition R1 and R2 may be the same or different and may be fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C2 haloalkyl, C3-C6 cycloalkyl, C7-C9 aralkyl, phenyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkylthio, C1-C6 alkylsulfinyl, C7-C9 aralkoxy, phenoxy, provided that if both R3 and R4 are hydrogen, then R1 and R2 cannot be 3-phenoxy and hydrogen; also R1 and R2 may be the same or different and may be phenylthio, phenylsulfonyl, alkali metal carboxylate, C2-C5 alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl or -NR5R6 ; R3 and R4 are the same or different and are C1-C4 alkylsulfonyl, nitro; provided that if the other of R3 and R4 is hydrogen then R1 and R2 cannot both be hydrogen, also R3 and R4 may be the same or different and may be -OCXnH3-n or any of the meanings given for R1 and R2 with the proviso that if R3 and R4 are together hydrogen or bromine then if R1 and R2 are both hydrogen the bromine cannot be 4-bromo; R5 and R6 are the same or different and are hydrogen or C1-C2 alkyl with the proviso that when R5 and R6 are both hydrogen then R1, R2 and R3 cannot all be hydrogen; X is fluorine, chlorine or bromine; and n is 1, 2 or 3 is disclosed. The compounds of this invention are effective as a nematocidal and/or a miticidal agent. A process for forming these compounds is also set forth.
