PURPOSE:To provide the title compsn. which is excellent in stain removing activity as well as in non-breaking properties for cotton and which comprises and active component composed of a cellulase having a particular non-breaking index. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline cellulase (A) exhibiting an optimum pH value of 7 or more, or a relative activity at pH 8 or over of 50% or more with respect to the optimum condition when CMC is used as a substrate, such as alkali cellulase K prepd. by inoculating bacillus s.p. KSM-635 (FERM BP-1485) to a medium and conducting culturing at 22-40 deg.C for 1-4 days, which alkaline cellulase has a non-breaking index=hydrolysis rate with respect to non(low)- crystallinity cellulose/hydrolysis rate with high-crystallinity cellulose of at least 500, is mixed in an amt. of 50-20,000 units in terms of CMCase per kg of the compsn. with optional component (B) such as a surfactant, a divalent metal ion trapping agent, an alkali agent, an inorg. salt, a re-staining preventive, an enzyme, a trapping or reducing agent for effective chlorine in city water, a bleaching agent, a fluorescent dye and a solubilizing agent.
