PURPOSE:To promote the solar energy fixing function of green vegetable and to increase the yield of Welsh onions, by treating Welsh onions with one or more choline salts such as choline chloride and choline phosphate. CONSTITUTION:The efficiency of photosynthesis of Welsh onion can be improved and the yield of Welsh onions can be increased by applying 50-200g of one or more choline salts (e.g. choline bitartrate and dihydrogen choline citrate) to 100 are of field of Welsh onions. The choline salt is preferably applied to the leaf and stalk of the Welsh onions in the form of aqueous solution having active component concentration of 100-20,000ppm, preferably 300-10,000ppm. The choline salt may be mixed with liquid fertilizer, insecticide, fungicide, foliar application agent, etc. The impregnation of the active component into the stalk and leaf of Welsh onions can be promoted by spraying an aqueous solution added with a surfactant. The application stage of the choline salt is preferably the initial stage of the growth of the bulb in the case of onion or garlic.
