PURPOSE:To improve workability, by forming the titled device of a fixing unit which is freely attachable and detachable to and from a device body, a freely openable and closable cover, a roller supporting means for fixing, and a member for maintaining the open state of the cover by engaging the supporting means. CONSTITUTION:An operator opens the opening/closing door 10a of the device body 10 and turns a handle part 34 of an upper cover 33 of the fixing unit 20 90 deg. clockwise. Then, a notched part 42a of a shaft 42 of the cover 33 faces perpendicular and an arm lever 35 turns slightly around a fulcrum 36; in addition, a projection 44 of the cover 33 engages an engaging hole 45 of the lever 35 and is fixed in the 90 deg. position. As the lever 35 rotates slightly, a press roller 32 attached to the bearing of the lever 35 is raised by overcoming the energizing force of a tensile spring 41 and a clearance is formed between said roller and a heat roller 31. The operator lifts the fixing unit 20 as it is upward from this state, then the fixing unit is taken out of the device body 10. The maintenance, inspection and exchange are thereby facilitated.
