Arylhydroxamates are provided having the structure <IMAGE> wherein R1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, aryl, lower alkenyl, cycloalkyl, or aralkyl; R2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, aryl, cycloalkyl, alkanoyl or aroyl; m is 2 to 8; and Z is <IMAGE> wherein R3 is OH, COOH <IMAGE> These compounds are useful as inhibitors of DELTA 5-lipoxygenase and as such are useful as antiallergy agents.
