PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion of a secondary coating and common coating to each other by fusion so that each optical fiber can be taken out easily under a separated condition, by providing a layer, to which a parting agent is applied, between the optical fibers and common coating. CONSTITUTION:Each of optical fiber 1 is constituted of an optical fiber 1a made of transparent glass, primary coating 1b, buffering layer 1d, and secondary coating 2c made of an ultraviolet-setting resin and a parting agent applied layer 3, which is formed by dissolving a parting agent into a solvent and applying the liquid to the surface of the layer 3, and then, heating the layer 3 so that the agent can be closely adhered to the layer 3 is formed on the surface of the strand 1. Then an optical fiber tape is constituted by arranging, for example, five pieces of optical fiber strands which are respectively provided with the layers 3 in parallel and closely adhering a common coating 2 made of an ultraviolet-setting resin to the surfaces of the strands. Therefore, the closely adhering property between the layer 3 and optical fiber surfaces is improved and the layer 3 does not adhere by fusion to the common coating 2. As a result, the common coating can be removed without damaging the optical fibers and the fibers can be separated from each other easily.
