NEW MATERIAL:A 4H-3,1-benzoxazine derivative shown by formula I (Y is halogen or lower alkyl; n is 0-2; two Y may be the same or different when n is 2 in Yn; R is H, alkyloxy, alkynyloxy, alkylthio or alkenylthio). EXAMPLE:4-(4-Chlorophenyl)-4-isopropyloxy-2-(4-pyridyl)-4H-3,1-benzoxa zine. USE:Useful as an agriculatural and horticultural fungicide applicable to various pathogenic germs such as Phycomycetes and Ascomycetes, showing excellent effects especially on powdery mildew, rust, downy mildew and dampling-off useful plants. PREPARATION:A benzophenone derivative shown by formula II is reacted with a halogenating agent to give a reaction product, which is reacted with a corresponding alcohol or thiol to give a compound shown by formula I.
