PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance having inhibitory action on blood platelet agglutination and adhesion ability, by reacting sodium boron hydride with a lithium halide and subsequently reducing (chlorobenzoyl)-tetrahydrothieno- pyridine in the presence of a lower alcohol. CONSTITUTION:Sodium boron hydride is reacted with a lithium halide and 5-(2-chlorobenzoyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno[3,2-C]pyridine expressed by formula I is subsequently reduced in the presence of a lower alcohol (preferably methanol) to afford the aimed 5-(2-chlorobenzyl)-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno[3,2-C]pyridine expressed by formula II.
