NEW MATERIAL:An alpha-(N-furfuryl)-aminobutyric ester shown by formula I (R is 1-6C alkyl or 3-6C alkenyl). EXAMPLE:alpha-(N-Furfuryl)-aminobutyric acid-4-pentenyl ester. USE:A synthetic intermediate for drugs such as N-1-[1-(4-pentenyloxy) carbonylpropyl]-N-(1-imidazolylcarbonyl)-furfuryl-amine and agricultural chemi cals. PREPARATION:For example, an alpha-halobutyric ester shown by formula II (X is halogen) is reacted with furfurylamine shown by formula III in an aprotic solvent such as acetonitrile in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent such as Na2CO3 and an iodine-containing inorganic salt such as NaI at 50-150 deg.C for 1-12hr to give a compound shown by formula I.
