PURPOSE:To enable supply of illumination light of the quantity adequate to respective scopes according to the kinds of said scopes by changing the quantity of the illumination light to be projected on the end face of a light guide in the case when a rotary filter is interposed on the optical axis connecting a light source and subject and the case in which when the filter is retreated therefrom. CONSTITUTION:A discriminating means 26 which discriminates the kind of the scope is provided. Such a mechanical mechanism as to interpose the rotary filter, which exists between the light source 52 for emitting white light and the subject and allows sequential transmission of respective face sequential color light rays, on the optical axis connecting the light source and the subject when a face sequential electronic scope is thereby discriminated to be mounted and to retreat said filter therefrom when a simultaneous type electronic scope or fiber scope is discriminated to be mounted is provided; in addition, the quantity of the illumination light radiated to the end face of the light good 14 from the fiber bundle is adjusted to the adequate quantity of light. The adequate quantity of the illumination light is, therefore, supplied to the incident end face of the light guide so as to meet the respective scopes.
