The filter comprises a housing sepd. by a transverse tube sheet into an upper clean compartment with outlet and suction fan, and a lower dirty compartment into which filter bags depend from apertures in the tube sheet. A dirty-gas supply pipe passes down through the tube sheet and has at least some exits adjacent the underside of the tube sheet. Pref. compressed air can be injected into the filter bags from above, to detach collected dust from the exteriors of the filter bags.
