PURPOSE:To eliminate the arc short circuit at the rear end sections of arc extinguishing plates and improve the break performance by covering the rear end sections of the arc extinguishing plates with an insulating film. CONSTITUTION:A stator 3, a fixed contact point 4 provided on the stator 3, a mover 1 driven by a disconnecting device, a movable contact point 2 provided on the mover 1 and disconnected from the fixed contact point 4 by the mover 1, an arc introducing member 5 fixed to the stator 4 at one end, and arc extinguishing plates 30 are provided, and an insulating film 32 is formed on the rear end sections of the arc extinguishing plates 30 made of a magnetic material. An arc 9 is moved by the electromagnetic force in the arrow A direction on the arc runner 5 and finally moved to the rear end sections 30c of the arc extinguishing plates 30, but the rear end sections 30c are covered with the insulating film 32, and the arc short circuit does not occur. A circuit breaker with the high break performance is obtained accordingly.
