PURPOSE:To absorb the dimensional tolerance of a ferrule in its longitudinal direction and, at the same time, to realize a function for stopping turning of the ferrule, by selectively fixing two pairs of projecting pieces which are oriented in opposite directions of an elastic member provided between the collar of the ferrule and wall plate of a holder to the collar and wall plate, respectively. CONSTITUTION:An elastic body 17 which energizes a ferrule 16 in the direction, in which optical fibers 15 are butted to each other, is provided between the collar 16a of the ferrule 16 and wall plate 12b of a holder 12. The elastic body 17 is provided with two pairs of projecting pieces 17a and 17b, which are oriented in opposite directions in which the elastic body 17 is extended and contracted, and one pair of the projecting pieces 17a is fixed to the collar 16a. The other pair of the projecting pieces 17b is fixed to the wall plate 12b. Therefore, turning of the ferrule 16 is stopped and the ferrule 16 is positioned against the holder 12 and, at the same time, the ferrule 16 is energized in the direction, in which the optical fibers 15 are butted to each other. As a result, the dimensional tolerance of the ferrule 16 in its longitudinal direction can be absorbed when the optical fibers are coupled with each other.
