PURPOSE:To increase the penetration amount of a corrosion inhibitor to the surface of the heat transfer pipe of a crevis part, by continuing low heat output operation, which is performed after the start of a nuclear reactor in such a state that the corrosion inhibitor is injected, for 20-40hr before gradually raising output to rated output. CONSTITUTION:The container of a nuclear reactor and the steam generator communicating with the container of the nuclear reactor through a cooling material recirculation piping are provided. A corrosion inhibitor is injected in the supplied water heated by a nuclear reactor cooling material. In starting this light water cooling type nuclear reactor, the low heat output operation, which is performed after the start of the nuclear reactor in such a state that the corrosion inhibitor is injected, is continued for 20-40hr and, thereafter, output is gradually raised to rated output. Whereupon, the proper boiling convection of the supplied water in a crevis part is kept in the low heat output state of a region where the interior of the crevis part is not dried out. By this method, the penetration of the corrosion inhibitor to the crevis part becomes faster and its amount increases as compared with the concn. diffusion dominating field under zero output.
