Machine for chamfering steel sheets

The method produces a chamfered edge to very thick flat plates to ease their ultimate welding. The position of the sheet (20) is adjusted on a table of the chamfering machine using an aligning device that has stops and tighteners. The sharp ridges of the sheet are eliminated by planing the inequalities. - The cutting tool has an upper mill (8) with regulatable inclination which cooperates with a fixed flat counter blade (7) carried by a lower table. The counter blade is spaced by several tenths of a millimetre w.r.t. the mill.
