PURPOSE:To easily obtain a metallic soap having high melting point and suitable as a lubricant for engineering plastic to be processed at about 200 deg.C, by reacting a specific fatty acid mixture with an alkaline earth metal oxide, etc., at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:The objective metallic soap having a melting point higher than that of conventional metallic soap by 30-100 deg.C can be produced by (1) heating 1 equivalent of a 12-22C fatty acid such as stearic acid or lauric acid at about 100 deg.C, (2) adding 1-5 equivalent of oxide or hydroxide of an alkaline earth metal such as quick lime, slaked lime, MgO or Ca(OH)2 to the fatty acid, (3) heating the produced mixture at about 110 deg.C, (4) adding 10-30pts.wt. of water based on 1pt.wt. of the fatty acid, (5) adding 0.1-2.0 equivalent of a 1-10C fatty acid such as formic acid, acetic acid, oxalic acid or maleic acid, (6) heating the mixture at 120-150 deg.C and (7) reacting the components with each other for 0.5-2hr.
