PURPOSE:To obtain a mold which has no discontinuous part and is homogeneous in its structure by dissolving and mixing an alkaline earth metal, a rare earth element, and a copper halogenide so as to form a glassy material and next molding this glassy material into a desirable shape at a prescribed temperature at which the glassy mate rial is in a semi-dissolving state and then by heating this mold to be oxidized. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline earth metal, a rare earth element, and a copper halogenide, which are heated to show a semi-dissolved state, are dissolved and melted to form a glassy material, and next this glassy material molded into a desirable shape at a prescribed temperature at which the glassy material is in a semi-dissolved state, and next the mold is heated and oxidized. The glassy material indicates a material which is heated to show a semi-dissolved state, that is, a state in which its viscosity gradually changes over a comparatively wide range of temperatures like the viscosity of glass. This glassy material is molded into desirable shapes by a drawing method in which a dice is used, an extrusion method in which a slit is used to form this mate rial into a tape shape, or an extension flowing method in which the material is made to flow extensively on a substrate. Accordingly a superconductive mold which has dense and homogeneous structure and excellent characteristics can be easily obtained.
