PURPOSE:To carry out sterilization treatment with facilitated control of treating time, by blending a raw material to be sterilized with part of an already sterilized raw material and sterilizing the resultant blend and taking out the obtained part as the product in sterilizing a food with a gas stream of heated steam or hot air. CONSTITUTION:A raw material (A) is introduced through a feeder 1, hopper 2 and rotary valve 3 into a mixer 4. Part of an already sterilized raw material is fed from a cyclone 10 through a rotary valve 13 and distributor 14. The raw material delivered from the mixer 4 is fed to a disintegrator 6, disintegrated, fed with heated steam fed from a pipe 8 thereto into a heating pipe 9 and sterilized in the heating pipe 9. The sterilized raw material is separated from the steam in the cyclone 10, passed through the rotary valve 13 and partially taken out as a product by the distributor 14. The rest is introduced into the mixer.
