PURPOSE:To record servo data and to use a raw disk by recording servo data based on dummy data preceding to the servo data. CONSTITUTION:Servo data for a track T1 are set up as A1 and B1 and a head 6 is moved to a track position of the servo data A1 through a control circuit 2 and a stepper 8 to record the data A1 on a proper position by a pattern generating circuit 3. Then, the head 6 is shifted by a half of the track in the disk center direction to record dummy data D11 on the preceding position of the data A1. Distance time d11 between the data A1 and D11 is counted by a time counting circuit 4. Similarly, a prescribed time d31 is added to the d11 based on the data B1, D11 and the added result is recorded in a recording position B1. Then, the head 6 is moved to the track T1 and the time distance d31 between the data A1 and B1 is measured by the circuit 4. The B1 is recorded again in the circuit 3 by using the measured value d31. Then, the head 6 is moved to a track T2 and data D12 are recorded based on an index signal. Said operation is repeated to record the whole servo data.
