MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS VALIDITY/INVALIDITY DECIDING METHOD

PURPOSE:To complicate forgery and alteration and to improve security by detecting the light transmittance of a 1st checking part to decide the validity/ invalidity of a material and detecting a magnetic materials for a 2nd checking part to decide its sort. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic card 1 is provided with a magnetic stripe 2 for recording magnetic data, a checking part 3 for magnetically checking the sort of the card, a checking part for checking the material of the card 1 by determining the degree of passage, and a checking part 5 for checking a using state by a punched hole. The light transmittance of the card 1 is determined by a photoelectric converter 21 in an R/W data processing part and the card 1 is punched by a puncher 22. The data determined by the converter 21 are converted by an A/D converter 23 and the digital signal is inputted to a signal processing unit 24 in an R/W data control part. A magnetic bar code signal read out by a head (a) and a punched hole signal are inputted to the unit 24 through a waveform shaping unit 26 and the data of a stripe 2 read out by a magnetic head (b) are inputted to the unit 24 through a waveform shaping part 27.
