PURPOSE:To enable a user to generate a desired character string even if he does not know reading of KANJI (Chinese character) and KANJI itself, by providing a resembling KANJI selecting part which outputs a second KANJI indicated with a select signal out of plural KANJIs which are stored in a resembling KANJI memory and resemble the character form of a first KANJI outputted from a KANJI input part. CONSTITUTION:A KANJI input part 13, a resembling KANJI memory 14 in which KANJIs whose character forms resemble each other are stored correspondingly to each other, a resembling KANJI selecting part 15 which outputs the second KANJI indicated with the select signal out of plural KANJIs which are stored in the resembling KANJI memory 14 and resemble the character form of the first KANJI outputted from the KANJI input part 11, and a KANJI display part 16 on which KANJI is displayed are provided. Thus, though the user does not know reading of KANJI or KANJI itself, he can generate a desired character string if he inputs reading of another KANJI or this KANJI resembling the character form of a desired KANJI and indicates the output of the KANJI resembling the character form of the inputted KANJI.
