The instruments (1) to be disinfected are arranged in a tank (2) and covered with a solution (6) of at least one dye whose absorption line is situated essentially between 350 and 1000 nm. The solution (6) is subjected simultaneously to an ultrasound excitation and to an illumination whose spectrum contains at least the absorption lines, in order to generate, within the solution (6), active molecular oxygen.
