PURPOSE:To enable high-density and high speed recording, reproducing and erasing of information by using specific three elements of specific atomic number ratios to form a recording layer of which the optical constant is changed by heating. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer is formed by using the material having the compsn. (except the compsn. of 0 Sb) within the range enclosed by the 4 points A-D; A(Sb21Te19Ge60), B(Sb21Te9Ge70), C(Sb0Te20Ge80), and D(Sb0Te40 Ge80) in the triangular coordinates in which the three elements Sb, Te and Ge are used and the atomic number ratios peak at Sb, Te and Ge. Then, this material is short in crystallization time and has high sensitivity and, therefore, the information recording medium with which the high-density and high-speed recording, reproducing and erasing of information are possible is obtd. |
