PURPOSE:To reduce a noise level and to improve the reproduction sensibility of a recording information by taking a recording film by providing a bismuth- substituted garnet film on a gadolinium/gallium/garnet monocrystal substrate and executing the reproduction of an information by using a Faraday effect. CONSTITUTION:The Bi-substituted garnet film in two layers is formed on a GGG(Gd3Ga5O12) monocrystal substrate having discoid shape by using a liquid phase epitaxial method and spatter method, the upper side Bi-substituted YIG is taken as a recording film, a reflection film is provided thereon and the reproduction of informations is executed by using Faraday effect. for instance, a Bi-substituted YIG(Bi1.5Y1.5GaFe4O12) film 6 is grown on the (111) face of GGG by using a GGG substrate 5 and the flux of lead oxide-boron oxide by a liquid phase epitaxial method. This film face is flat. With holding this substrate at 350 deg.C, then, a Bi-substituted YIG is spattered thereon at 100Angstrom /min film forming speed to form a recording film 7. The film face of the recording film 7 is flat as well. A reflection film 8 is the formed by forming a chrome thereon with vacuum deposition method. The noise can be reduced to the extent of 1/4.
