PURPOSE:To develop a hard sintered alloy having excellent wear resistance by kneading Fe alloy powder containing Mo, Nb or Ta, Cr, Mn, P as hard carbide forming element and in case of need, adding Fe-Cr powder together with binder, compressing, compacting and sintering. CONSTITUTION:The Fe alloy powder containing 5-15 wt.% Mo, 2-6% Cr or Mn, 1-3% P, 10-30% Nb or Ta, 1-8% C, <2% S or Si and having <=2% of <=5mum grain size, or further the Fe-Cr alloy powder containing 10-15% Cr and <2% inevitable impurities and having as the same grain size as the above Fe alloy, is mixed with 0.5-5% the binder of paraffin, acrylic resin, etc., and compressed and compacted. This is sintered at 1000-1120 deg.C under vacuum or non-oxidizing atmosphere of H2 gas, etc. The sintered alloy containing chemical composition of 1-5% C, 4-10% Cr, 4-18% Nb or Ta, 1.5-9% Mo, <1.4% Mn, 0.3-1.8% P and the hard carbides of Mo, Nb, Ta, etc., and having hard quality and excellent wear resistance is developed.
