PURPOSE:To enable mounting of a title device to an existing conveyance line and to permit cutting of the flow of a lot of a small quantity of printed books at the front and the rear thereof, by providing a device which presses printed books, the flow of which is interrupted by two flow cut claws situated with a distance therebetween in the running direction of a carrier conveyor and a claw, situated on the upper stream side of the flow cut claws, from above. CONSTITUTION:When cutting of a flow is effected to sample a printed book, flow cut claws 3 and 4, simultaneously, are rocked downward and are inserted in a printed book row. This insertion blocks movement of printed books 2A nipped by the flow cut claws 3 and 4, and printed books 2, moved to flow cut claws 4 on the upper stream side, are orderly stopped by means of the flow cut claw 4 and a press plate 8. Simulta neously, an air cylinder 9 coupled to the press plate 8 is actuated to slowly lower the press plate. This lowering forces the printed books 2, the movement of which is stopped by the flow cut claw 4 and the press plate 8, to be pressed in a current position by means of the press plate, and constrains the printed books throughout a relatively wide range. This constitution enables the printed books to be surely stopped by means of the flow cut claw 4 and the press plate 8 positioned above a carrier conveyor without disturbing an arranging state.
