PURPOSE:To compactly form a device body by providing a handle which can be attached and detached to and from a process cartridge, and also, providing a protective cover of an image carrying body for interlocking with the handle. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body supporting body 7 is provided with a handle which can be attached and detached easily, a protective cover for protecting a photosensitive body, a winding spring 24 for winding the protective cover 21, and a protective cover container 22 for containing compactly the wound protective cover 21. Accordingly, as for the handle 2 attached to a developing device 3 in a handle stopper part 20 in the beginning, after a process cartridge has been installed to a device body, strong force is applied in the direction as indicated with an arrow A, therefore, a handle supporting body 19 becomes a supporting point and the handle escapes in the direction as indicated with an arrow B from the handle stopper part 20. In such a way, the protective cover 21 is contained compactly in the protective cover container 22 as indicated with an arrow C by the force of the winding spring 24.
