PURPOSE:To ensure the stable control for carrier of a signal detecting means even in such a case where a signal detecting part is unable to detect accurately a tracking signal out of a disk, by interrupting the application of the tracking signal to carrier control of the signal detecting means when a rubbing pressure exceeds a prescribed level. CONSTITUTION:The foreign matters, e.g., dust, etc., stick to a disk 10 or a signal detecting part 13A and therefore the part 13A can obtain only the signals lower than a prescribed level out of the disk 10 and is unable to detect an accurate signal. Under such conditions, rubbing pressure control signals 37 are increased so that the rubbing pressure of the part 13A against the disk 10 is increased. Thus the foreign matters stuck to the surface of the disk 10 or the part 13A are quickly removed. Then the part 13A can stably detect the signals of the disk 10. Furthermore, the addition of a tracking control signal 101 is inhibited to a signal detecting means carrier control part 21 so that a signal detecting part transport part 13B can work stably when the signal 37 exceeds a prescribed level, i.e., when the part 13A is unable to accurately detect signals out of the disk 10.
