PURPOSE:To obtain the title ceramic-glass particle capable of forming a substantially nonporous ceramic thermally sprayed film by wetgranulating a material consisting of specified amt. of the ceramic powder and glass powder for thermal spraying, and then drying the granule to obtain the spherical granule having specified diameter. CONSTITUTION:The material consisting of 20-95wt.% glass powder and 5-80wt.% ceramic powder of alumina, quartz, etc., for thermal spraying is charged in a porcelain ball mill along with water, and sufficiently pulverized by using a dispersant such as ammonium polyacrylate. A soln. of a binder such as methylcellulose is added to the material to obtain a slurry, and the slurry is spray-dried by using a spray drier to prepare a substantially spherical granule having <=350mum diameter and wherein the glass powder and the ceramic powder are substantially uniformly mixed and dispersed. By this method, the glass powder component is completely melted even if a part of the ceramic powder components is insufficiently melted in a thermal spraying flame, hence substantially spherical particles are formed, the particles collide with a thermal spraying base material, and a nonporous and homogeneous thermally sprayed film can be obtained.
