A method and a device for target search and target tracking by means of a beam (1) which can be focussed are intended to permit energy concentration in a small focus spot on the target (2) at a comparatively small cost in terms of equipment and circuitry, which focus spot can be moved in a relatively large spatial region. For this purpose, that deformation of an MDA compensation mirror (9), which is used to compensate for atmospheric propagation disturbances and is based on the alignment of the beam (1) to the target (2) and the matching of the focus spot to the target distance, is undertaken by a platform (4) for beam pivoting and by telescope optics (10) for setting the focal length, so that the deformation dynamics of the mirror surface (8) are available for atmospheric compensation, and possibly for fine direction finding, with respect to focal length and beam direction. The drive for the platform (4) and the telescope optics (10) is derived from the instantaneous mean curvature and curvature direction of the deformable mirror surface (8), which, for their part, can be determined via the control variables (Ui) of piezo-actuating elements (18i). …<IMAGE>… |
