PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous operation even upon inadvertent touch with a key input section during a printing motion, by invaliding a key input under the condition where motion is detected through a detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A state judging section 60 is provided in the electric circuit of a printer. When document data are printed, a mode switch 11 is switched to print mode position PR so as to set a control section 51 in print mode. Under this condition, a print head section HA is contacted with a recording paper A then a printer body 10 is moved by depressing a print key 20. Consequently, a pulse signal is outputted from a photosensor and fed to the control section 51 and a thermal head drive circuit 57 as a moving amount detecting signal for the printer body 10, so as to drive a thermal head 27 thus transferring the document data onto the recording paper A. Sampling signals are not outputted to the mode switch and the key input sections 11, 12 under printing motion condition. As a result, erroneous operation the to inadvertent touch of the key input section 12 during printing can be prevented.
