PURPOSE:To miniaturize an actuator and to enhance testing efficiency, by using the actuator itself as a mass body used in an impact and directly mounting the mass body to a shaft when the mass is adjusted. CONSTITUTION:A pressure fluid is supplied from a connection pipe 2b to return a piston 3 and a shaft 4 to the origins. Next, a speed signal is applied to a servo amplifier 8 and a servo valve 7 is controlled and the piston 3 begins to move. The movement of the shaft 4 is detected by a speed sensor 6 and, when the piston 3 reaches a predetermined speed, the servo valve 7 is closed. By this mechanism, the piston 3 stops but, since the shaft 4 is free with respect to the piston 3, said shaft 4 is separated from the piston 3 and advances until it is brought into contact with a stopper 1e. Therefore, when the leading end of the shaft 4 is brought into contact with a material to be tested, the load accelerated to a predetermined speed is applied to the material to be tested by the shaft 4 to perform an impact test.
