PURPOSE:To produce a blanket for printing improved in compression permanent strain and free from directional properties, by a method wherein, in the blanket for printing provided with a compressed porous layer on a base fabric, the compressed layer contains voids having specific factors of shape 80% or more to the total amount of voids. CONSTITUTION:A blanket has a base construction that a compressed layer is laminated on a base fabric. The compressed layer to be laminated on the base fabric contains voids having factors of shape, such as a roundness (SFO) of 0.3 <= SFO <= 1, an acircularity (SFS) of 1 <= SFS <= 2.5, and a circle equivalent diameter (HD) of 5 mum <= HD <= 100 mum, 80% or more to the total amount of voids. The shape having the aforesaid factors of shape is basically a shape of hexagonal system crystal and normally a cube. In the forming of the compressed layer, normally a rubber composition mixed with powders is applied to the base fabric by a roll coater, etc.-only one period at end of sentence. The use of the cubic powders in the blanket for printing eliminates the possibility that the powders are longitudinally orientated in the application of the rubber composition. In this manner, a compression permanent strain can be improved.
