PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition which forms no noxious gas and has excellent flame retardancy and excellent electrical properties, by mixing a polyolefin resin with magnesium hydroxide and tribasic lead sulfate. CONSTITUTION:A resin composition formed by mixing 100pts.wt. polyolefin resin with 50-250pts.wt. magnesium hydroxide and 5-20pts.wt. tribasic lead sulfate. Examples of said polyolefin resins include polyethylene, polypropylene and ethylene/alpha-olefin derivative copolymers such as EVA and ethylene/ethyl acrylate copolymer, and a flame retarding effect is particular on EVA which has a low volume resistivity. When the amount of magnesium hydroxide added is smaller than 50pts.wt., no sufficient flame retardancy can be imparted to the resin, while when it is larger than 250pts.wt., the molding of the resin is difficult.
