The strand material (4) is taken from the outer wound layers in the direction (23) of the original running line (3), and can pass through a take-off ring forming part of the bobbin flange. In another technique, the material is drawn out similarly, but from the innermost windings in the bobbin. The outgoing strand material passes through a brake, preferably a braked roller assembly. The wound layers and/or the bobbin can be in a conical build-up, with a conical bobbin core expanding into or forming part of the bobbin flange, at one end, and a removable flange at the take-off end of the bobbin. The process allows a bobbin of strand material to be used in a continuous operation when working with single or multiple-strand wires, cables, ropes or glass fibre strands. |
