PURPOSE:To accurately measure the volume of the liquid in a tank in an agravic state such as the space by giving a know external factor to gas and changing its state, finding the difference of the gas before and after the state change, and finding the volume of the liquid. CONSTITUTION:A calibration tank 4 where the gas having a pressure difference from the gas pressure in a tank 2 to be measured which contains the liquid 1, pipes 6 and 7 which connect the tank 4 to the tank 2, and a cutoff valve 8, etc., provided between the pipes 6 and 7 are provided. Then, while the valve 8 is closed, the tank 4 is connected to the tank 2 and respective pressure sensors 14 and 16 and temperature sensors 15 and 17 detect the pressure and temperature of the gas in the tanks 2 and 4. here, the valve 8 is opened to communicate both tanks 2 and 4 with each other and the pressure and temperature of the gas in the tanks after the valve 8 is closed again are detected. The volume of the liquid 1 in the tank 2 is calculated 18 from the detected pressure and temperature, the capacity of the tank 2 which is measured previously, and the capacity of the tank 4.
