PURPOSE:A dimethylphenylsilyl group-containing polysiloxane comprising repeating units of a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:A dimethylphenylsilyl group-containing polysiloxane comprising repeating units of formula I and having a weight-average MW>=about 5,000 can be obtained by polymerizing a cyclic siloxane oligomer or a linear low-MW siloxane oligomer, obtained by hydrolyzing 1,1-dichloro-1,2,2-trimethyl-2- phenyldisilane, or a mixture thereof.
