PURPOSE:To attain consecutive decoding by dividing a picture memory into several blocks, giving an address to them, storing a data being the result of decoding a picture code to each block and switching the block if the block is occupied. CONSTITUTION:A block address counter (BAC) 5 at the initial state points out a block No.1 of the picture memory 6. When the picture code enters a decoding circuit 1 and the decoding is started, addresses A0-A15 are increased and the decoded data is stored in the addresses A0-A15 of the block No.1. When the decoding is progressed in the circuit 1 and all the addresses A0-A15 go to 1, the circuit 1 outputs the address A0 in the next timing to count up an up-down counter circuit 4, the BAC 5 is the block No.2 and the memory 6 points out the block No.2. The similar processing is executed and the data decoded by the decoding circuit 1 is written in a prescribed address in the memory 6 sequentially. Thus, the decoding is applied sequentially.
