摘要 Two-stroke reciprocating internal-combustion engine working by the Diesel or Otto process, an air charge being flushed and put through in response to every second crankshaft revolution, no working stroke taking place at the same time. The application area extends to all known possible uses of a reciprocating engine. In conventional two-stroke engines, the crowding together of the outlet period and flushing period impairs the emission of harmful materials and the specific fuel consumption, since losses of fresh gas into the outlet and residues of old gas in the useful charge occur, and furthermore the pre-outlet is high. The problem is solved in that a charge of old gas is flushed out by an air charge, and the latter is flushed out in turn by a charge of fresh gas during the subsequent flushing operation. The elimination and loss of fresh gas is avoided, and the emission of harmful materials is improved by the admixing of air. Furthermore, the pre-outlet can be reduced, thus resulting in a power gain and cooler exhaust gases. The advantages are of equal benefit in both mixture-flushed and air-flushed engines. The invention allows for maximum efficiency in terms of greater environmental compatibility and fuel saving of internal-combustion engines.
