Cold-rolled, non-microalloyed carbon manganese steel (0.04% to 0.18% C, 0.25% to 1.40% Mn) is preheated at 370 DEG to 540 DEG C heated to 815 DEG to 940 DEG , and quenched to 340 DEG to 510 DEG C in a continuous process to develop minimum yield strength of 275 MPa, minimum tensile strength of 345 MPa, and 14% minimum elongation.
