PURPOSE:To avoid the inconvenience in the case of listening by adopting the constitution such that the setting of the receiving state is canceled when a preset frequency having no corresponding sender station is scanned so as to realize efficient preset scanning. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 5 in a receiver with preset scan function outputs control signals C1-C3 based on a key input from a key input section 4 and a program to execute the function of the receiver. A PLL circuit 3, based on a signal C1, supplies a DC control voltage to a front end 2, sets a local oscillation frequency and supplies the signal to the front end 2. The front end 2 selects and amplifies a specific frequency component from the signal acquired by an antenna 1 and generates an intermediate frequency based on the local oscillation signal. The signal is outputted as an audio signal via an intermediate frequency amplifier circuit 7 and a detection circuit 8, the level is adjusted by an electronic volume 9 based on the signal C2 and outputted through a low frequency amplifier circuit 12 and a speaker 13. A display section 6 displays the frequency in the receiving state at present based on the signal C3.
