发明名称 METHOD FOR GROWING CRYSTAL
摘要 PURPOSE:To readily obtain a simple single crystal especially composed of organic substance in good productivity, by using a liquid exhibiting liquid crystal state as a solvent for epitaxy. CONSTITUTION:For example, 2,5-bis(4'-diethylaminophenyl)-1,3,4- oxadiazole (hereunder, oxadiazole) which is an organic substance is dissolved in a liquid crystal composition consisting of biphenyl derivative and biphenylester derivative at 45 deg.C until the solution of the substance attains a saturated state. Then the above-mentioned oxadiazole dissolved in the liquid crystal is charged into a vessel 1 shown in the figure and temperature gradient is given so as to be 45 deg.C in the upper crystal growth part and 48 deg.C in the lower crystal growth part. An oxadiazole crystal having 2mm square is charged as a seed crystal 3 therein and the crystal is grown in the upper part. As a result, the crystal is grown to 6mm square size after 4hr and it is confirmed that the resultant crystal is a single crystal having high dichroism and extremely reduced in defect in the crystal by a polarizing ultraviolet and visible light absorptimetry, etc.
