The baling machine has automatic control including a time delay coupled to a detector detecting whether the filament is around the bale or not. The delay introduces a pause in the dispensing process if no filament is detected. When the filament is present, dispensing continues uninterrupted. The control stops the interruption as soon as the detector indicates the presence of filament. The control also resets the dispenser. The detector senses whether the filament is moving or stationary and comprises a piezoelectric pickup acted on by a filament between the filament container and the dispenser.
