Commutator and method for its production

A commutator contains a plurality of commutator parts which are arranged distributed in the circumferential direction and are mounted on a rotating shaft. Each commutator part contains a brush sliding section which is in sliding contact with a brush in order to feed an electrical current and consists of stainless steel, and a connecting section which is connected to a coil, consists of copper and is connected to the brush sliding section. A method for producing a commutator composed of a plurality of commutator parts which are arranged distributed in the circumferential direction and are mounted on a rotating shaft provides for the brush sliding section to be produced from stainless steel and for it to be connected in the axial direction of the rotating shaft to a connecting section which is connected to an armature coil.
