PURPOSE:To prevent image quality from deteriorating by monitoring the time ranging from the transmission start of a 1st image signal to the transmission start of a 2nd image signal, and stopping the formation of an image being printed by print error occurrence. CONSTITUTION:A printer 1 receives subscanning-directional synchronizing signals VSYNC1 and VSYNC2 from a computer 2 and outputs horizontal synchronizing signals BD1 and BD2 for determining the image writing-out position of 1st and 2nd image signals on a photosensitive drum. A judging circuit 3 monitors the transmission timing and transmission interval of the signals VSYNC1 and VSYNC2 from the computer 2 to identify a print error occurrence state, and outputs an error information signal ERROR to the computer 2 when the occurrence is identified to stop the transmission of an image signal being processed presently. Thereby stopping the printing sequence of an image formation part 4. Consequently, the image quality is prevented from deteriorating.
